During this class, while Nigel was talking about the literature review, I realised I had gone too far and would need to cut it down. Even so, I’m proud of the amount of work I’ve done, and it’s already helping me shape the proposal more clearly. This first term 3 session also went through the proposal structure, the deadline, and the draft chapter we are meant to start with, which helped calm my head and make the process feel more manageable.
What I’m taking from this is that the literature review does not need to be exhaustive at the proposal stage; it should be focused, thematic, and just detailed enough to show I understand the key context and why my project matters. Cutting it down will likely strengthen the proposal, leaving more space for the actual research question and the project’s direction.
