This week, we had individual tutorials in preparation for our research proposals. We were asked to define our research area, write a short statement of intent, and identify relevant academic sources.
In my case, I worked on defining a comparative project focused on motion graphics in two key formats: title sequences and short-form audiovisual advertisements. My research explores how typography, imagery, texture, motion, and sound — the same core design tools — are configured differently in cinematic title design and commercial spots to achieve distinct branding, narrative, and emotional effects. I am particularly interested in how micro-narratives and visual textures (such as grain, collage, and 3D materials) shape a brand’s perceived personality across these formats.
