This week included feedback on the animation shot and an industry talk. For the final showreel, I’ll have to work a bit more on the hands: polishing the elbows when on the ground, then picking the bag up; simplifying the left-foot movement; and polishing the line of action when walking out. Despite these areas for improvement, I feel confident in the piece’s overall direction and see this stage as an opportunity to elevate it further.
Here’s the final outcome:
The industry talk provided practical insights into entering the animation field, particularly around professional habits and expectations. Advice such as maintaining clear, simple file-naming conventions, asking informed questions, understanding the studio hierarchy, and organising shot work effectively emphasised the importance of workflow discipline alongside creative ability. The discussion around impostor syndrome was particularly relevant, as it framed self-doubt as a common experience rather than a personal limitation. This has encouraged me to approach feedback more constructively and to view ongoing learning as a normal part of professional growth.
