This week’s lecture focused on research design and methodological approaches, exploring how to structure a research project to effectively answer a research question or develop a hypothesis.
A key point was aligning the research question with an appropriate method. The lecture emphasised that methodology should not be an afterthought, but an integral part of how research is conceptualised from the start.
We also looked at different research strategies and how they shape a project’s direction, with the session highlighting the importance of building a logical structure from question to method to outcome.
In my case, this reinforced theeed to enensureesearch question about motion graphics in title sequences versus advertisements is matched with a clear comparative method. Going forward, I want to be more specific about how I will analyse concepts like micro-narrative, visual texture, and brand personality, rather than treating methodology as something I figure out later.
