WEEK 6: Pose to pose 2.0

This week, we talked about different kinds of workflows an animator can have when working. For this week’s assignment, we worked in pose-to-pose to see how it was and how well it may suit us. It’s true that with this approach, you can see the whole movement from the beginning and work on everything at once. I liked it, but in this exercise, I found it challenging to focus on a specific part of the body movement.

During the feedback, Ting mentioned the importance of having a reference when animating again, and, truthfully, I didn’t have one. So the first thing I did was record myself doing it and start working on it. This is the first attempt with reference.

Once I had the reference, the main problem was the COG and the hip, which were floating and moving unsmoothly, causing Franky to drift. This was the next attempt:

Now I went too far with the COG, and some movements were too much, some keyframes needed to be smoother in the first second and within the second, the timing and spacing were too even, making everything bland and linear. This led to the final Franky:

On the other hand, we got another assignment on hand gestures and were asked to do some hand poses. Here are the poses I did for the assignment:
