This week, we delved deeper into rendering settings and saw how LUTs improve a scene’s visuals. LUTs are really useful, especially when working with many different scenes and lighting, and they can help you achieve a similar vibe and maintain coherence throughout the scenes.
For my project this week, I did two main things: see how the Maya import worked on the Engine. During class, I panicked because when I imported it, I didn’t realise I had to smooth the malla for export… I had lost the view I had in Maya. After talking to some colleagues, they explained how to smooth things in Maya and reminded me to do the UVs, which were vital.
For the character, I learned about painting the rig’s surface area. This showed how each ‘bone’ was being affected. This process, not going to lie, took longer than expected again because things couldn’t be saved correctly or the file got erased due to technical problems.
