WEEK 5: Pose to pose

This class was divided into different sections; the first was entirely dedicated to the Juice Box feedback. I found it fun to see everyone’s polished animations, and I was thrilled to hear I made a massive improvement in my piece. Ting gave me some pointers on how to fix it at the end of the animation to complete it and prepare it for the final reel.

Frankie’s golden poses were the other assignment; in this case, we saw all our poses and chose two for the following assignment: pose-to-pose.

During the class, we watched a compelling, impactful and profound animated video. We were warned that the animation was traumatic and possibly triggering. The story was tragic and unexpected, but because it was an animation, it didn’t feel as deep; this is why it was an animation. Animation helps detach a bit from the story, in a positive way, meaning it can tell a horrible, heartbreaking story. However, in animating it, it makes it more ‘ bearable’.

For the pose-to-pose assignment, I had to work with angry Frankie, turning him into a happy and celebratory character. Even though I’ve struggled on what to do in between the pose, I truly enjoyed the assignment and had fun playing around with Frankie. I’m extremely proud of my work, excited to receive feedback on how to improve it.
